The fall Westbrook In-house soccer program is an eight week long season with the main emphasis on creating enthusiasm for the sport in children. This is achieved through skill drills, an everybody plays attitude, and the devotion of our coaches. Teams range in size between 6 and 10 players depending on the needs and ability levels of the children. Games are Played every Sunday, weather depending, and culminate in a “mystery game” at the end of the season.

Season Runs:

Opening Day is Sunday September 7 th and the season runs through Sunday October 26 th 2008. We will play every Sunday, weather permitting and end the season with the potential of a “mystery event” to be held one of the last two weekends of October. Further Information in due time.

Game Times

Regular Season Sunday September 7th Through end of season ( click on age group for team, coach, color and schedule )

3-4 years old - 12:30 - 1:30 - games to be started at coaches discretion

5-6 years old - 12:30 - 1:30 - games to be started at coaches discretion

7-8 years old - 1:30 - 2:30 - games to be started by 1:45

9-13 years old - 2:30 - 3:30 - games to be started by 2:45

What's New?: The Westbrook Soccer league has a new three pronged approach to the education of our soccer players. First we are going to expand our game times for the 7-13 year olds to full 45 minutes. Second we are implementing a league wide routine practice schedule to better hone their skills. Third an opportunity to work on the more technical aspects of soccer with Tim Gillis, the high school soccer coach, and his players.

Practice : We have implemented a regular practice schedule to our In-house soccer program. It runs every Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the East Bridge Street Field. It is open to all ages 3-13 who are league players and their parents. We ask all children 6 and under to have a parent present on the field. There will be a minimum of 4 coaches at every practice to work on skills and techniques more closely with our players. This is voluntary practice but one we encourage all our players to take advantage of and also for our parents to get involved with. If sufficient numbers warrant it we have reserved the Walker Street field as well, to expand the practice.

Weather concerns; If it is raining obviously we don't play, its not that kind of football, but if it rained then stopped before game time do we still play? If it isn't apparent as whether or not we would play to the players parents, then we as coaches will contact you.

Facility Responsibilities : Alan Bickford the Westcott Junior High Facilities Manager has open the school's bathrooms and water fountains special for us. More importantly for the comfort our children. We assured him we would treat it with respect. We enlist all of us, coaches, players, and parents, to please help clean up after each game.

Equipment: - Recommended are soccer cleats, a water bottle and as always, your child will be required to wear shin guards for their own safety.
