WSL to Host 5 v. 5 Street Soccer Tourney

The Westbrook Soccer League will be hosting its first annual Presumpscot Open, a unique 5 v. 5 street soccer tournament to be played at the Cornelia Warren Four Season Rink on June 21-23, 2013.
 
The tournament is open to all soccer players ages 10 and older, with four competitive divisions broken up by age and gender. Teams are limited to 5-6 players, and the team registration fee is $60. To register your team, send an e-mail to wsbksoccerleague@gmail.com.
 
Below is a schedule of events for the Presumpscot Open, including a breakdown of the four competitive divisions:
 
Friday, June 21, 8:30p- 10:00p: Free outdoor screening of the award-winning documentary Pelada, a 2010 film about a couple former college soccer players traveling the globe in search of the next game of pick-up soccer.
 
Saturday, June 22, 12p-5p: Junior Boys division (ages 10-13) playoffs. Each team is guaranteed at least three, 20-minute group games. The top two teams in each of the two groups will square off in the semifinals and finals.
 
Saturday, June 22, 5p-10p: Senior Men division (ages 14+) playoffs. Each team is guaranteed at least three, 20-minute group games. The top two teams in each of the two groups will square off under the rink's floodlights in the semifinals and finals.
 
Sunday, June 23, 12p-5p: Junior Girls division (ages 10-13) playoffs. Each team is guaranteed at least three, 20-minute group games. The top two teams in each of the two groups will square off in the semifinals and finals.
 
Sunday, June 23, 5p-10p: Senior Women division (ages 14+) playoffs. Each team is guaranteed at least three, 20-minute group games. The top two teams in each of the two groups will square off under the rink's floodlights in the semifinals and finals.

WSL Opens Fall Classic Soccer Registration, Will Host Player Evaluations

The Westbrook Soccer League is now accepting online registrations for its 2013 Fall Classic Soccer program, and the WSL will be hosting player evaluations for its U9-U14 boys' and girls' teams on Sunday, May 5 and Saturday, May 11.
 
The cost for new players is $120, and the cost for returning players is $165. The registration fee covers the cost of a complete uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks), as well as the various fees required to run the program (referee costs, SoccerMaine club fees, tournament fees, etc.).
 
The Westbrook Soccer League is requiring all interested players to register online through GotSoccer prior to attending player evaluations on Sunday, May 5 and Saturday, May 11. The registration links for returning and new players are below:

Players interested in playing on one of Westbrook's Fall Classic Soccer teams are required to attend at least one of the player evaluation sessions, though the WSL strongly encourages all players to attend both of their age group's sessions.

WSL Opens Registration for 2013 Spring Recreational Soccer

The Westbrook Soccer League has kicked off registration for its 2013 Spring Recreational Soccer season.
 
The program is designed for players ages 3-13 and will consist of weekly sessions for each age group from Sunday, April 14- Sunday, June 9. The age groups will consist of the MLS division (ages 3-4), World Cup division (ages 5-6), Champions divisions (ages 7-9 boys and ages 7-9 girls), and Premier Foot Skills program (ages 10-13). The registration fee for each player is $50.

WSL to Host Winter Footskills Programs for Youth Players

The Westbrook Soccer League (WSL) is sponsoring winter soccer clinics in the newly-renovated Westbrook Community Center gymnasium for Westbrook youth soccer players beginning Tuesday, January 22.
 
John C.L. Morgan, the Boys' Varsity Soccer coach at Westbrook High School and the President of the WSL Board of Directors, is hosting a 10-week foot skills clinic for Westbrook boys ages 7-11 on Tuesday nights from 5:30p-6:45p. The cost for each player is $50, and checks can be written out to the Westbrook Soccer League. Andy Lefebvre, the Girls' Varsity Soccer coach at Westbrook High School and the Head of Coaches on the WSL Board of Directors, is hosting a 10-week clinic for Westbrook girls on Tuesday nights from 6:45p-8p. The Westbrook Soccer League elected new members to its Board of Directors Monday night at the League's Annual Meeting.
 
John C.L. Morgan was elected to a 2-year term as President; Darren Thayer was elected to a 1-year term as Vice President, Classic Soccer; Dmitri King was elected to a 2-year term as Vice President, Recreational Soccer; Gary Rairdon was re-elected to a 2-year term as Fundraising Coordinator; Jaime Graffam was elected a 2-year term as Registrar; Eben Perkins was elected to a 2-year term as Secretary; Aaron Graffam was elected to a 1-year term as Treasurer; and Danny Cavanaugh was re-elected to a 2-year term as the Director at Large, Fields and Equipment Manager.
 
Andy Lefebvre (Head of Coaches), Gary Laflamme (Director at Large, Classic Soccer), and Greg Thornton (Director at Large, Referee Assignor) round out the WSL BoD. Directors' contact information can be found at the Board of Directors link at the top of this page.
